b l o g .1.

I always said I would never create a blog-- initially thinking it was a waste of time. Here I am, though, writing my very first blog with a changed point of view.

Although it is a requirement for school, I feel a blog will be a great learning experience for me. I am excited to create a place personally for me, my students, and colleagues in which everyone will grow.

Being a Pre-K teacher I understand my students will not physically be able to compose blogs of their own to contribute to my page. But, all is not lost. There are several other ways I feel I can involve my students in blogging without them physically writing something.

My blog will be a combination of showcasing student creations and informing educators on our classroom routines, projects, and centers for each letter we learn. There are many blogs and websites I visit weekly that do exactly what I am hoping to do—but, it will be specific and personal to me and the students I teach.

Enjoy!

  1. I too never thought I would create a blog and thought they were a waste of time, although I look at other people's blogs from time to time. I think it is important to share your routines, projects, and centers. It is so helpful to bounce ideas off one another. There are times that I struggle with ways to incorporate technology in my classroom when I only see students for a short amount of time and the instruction needs to be very focused. I may share our routines and lesson ideas as well.

  2. There are a lot of people who do agree with you on thinking that a blog is a waste of time, as I was once one of those people too. I'm glad that both of us changed our minds, especially now looking at others blogs that they use in the classroom. You are right about involving you students in other ways to contribute to your blog. I like how you want to showcase the students work on your blog. I think that would make the students feel special and excited that others will get to see their work. Also like how you are going to use the blog to inform others on your routines, projects and centers, as I feel that it would be beneficial to the parents. The parents would be able to look at your blog and know exactly what their student has worked on and what you expect of your students.

    1. Lori,

I didn't really think about it as something to involve parents, but it truly is. Parents could literally see the work of their child every single week. Thank you for helping me look at the blog in a different way! I appreciate it!

  3. I love reading other people's blogs, but like you, felt like it was a waste of time to create a blog and keep it updated. I can see now that blogs can be a great asset in the classroom. I love that you posted photos and agree with the others that a blog is a great way to involve parents. This is what I would use my blog for instead of having students create blogs because of my subject area and seeing every student in our school.
